Писатели из народа: (авто)биографические тексты и контексты

Iuliia Rykunina

This paper is devoted to the specific area of autobiographies of Russian peasant writers and includes both a brief analysis of the main motifs of these texts and of how these texts function. Our purpose was to trace the history of this phenomenon and to underline some of its features. As peasant writers in Russia are always associated with some political or sociological context, it was important to focus our attention on the way these texts had been presented by their publishers (writers or scholars). The crucial point of our research is the comparison between the second half of nineteen century and also during the so called modernist period.
